Daisy Flores, Gila County Attorney, announced the “I Want to Be an Olympic…” Calendar Coloring Contest winners sponsored by Gila County Law Enforcement Agencies. She presented the calendar coloring contest winners to the Gila County Board of Supervisors on January 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Gila County Courthouse Board of Supervisor’s Hearing Room, in Globe, Arizona. This year the contest was open to all students in the Hayden/Winkleman Unified School District, Destiny School, Liberty High School and ILA from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The theme of the contest was “I Want to Be an Olympic…” and children were allowed to let their imagination be their guide while coloring about a drug-free school and life. The contest was a major success with many entries from students of all ages. Members of the Gila County Attorney’s Office were the judges and it was a tough job. The ultimate goal of this contest has been to get the message out to as many children as possible about the dangers of using drugs. The children were so imaginative and you can see that they embrace the Olympic spirit. The calendars will be displayed in our offices and the children’s classrooms. Mrs. Flores and all law enforcement send this thanks to the teachers that helped with this year’s effort and to all the kids who participated. CONGRATULATIONS to the winners!!
